Delicious artisan breads at the tiny Old Post Office Bakery in Clapham
Here at Lisa Stickley London we are big fans of the very lovely Old Post Office Bakery on Landor Road, just minutes from Clapham North tube. Handily located just next door to our London shop, the smell of freshly baked goodies is always too much to resist and you will often find one of us popping in for a freshly baked loaf, slice of pizza or one their yummy homemade cakes.
Inside, it may seem like a big team for such a tiny bakery but each person has an important role to play, rising at 4am to start baking in time for opening at 7am. This effort certainly does not go unnoticed – the Old Post Office Bakery produce a brilliant range of breads from traditional whole-wheat and sourdough to continental style breads, a white and fruit loaf. Each creation is so deliciously fresh, tasty and wholesome that many of their customers make a weekly pilgrimage across London just to visit this special store.
During the summer months we all love regular helpings of post-work fresh air on nearby Clapham Common and on our way there, we always stop by the Old Post Office Bakery to load up on freshly made picnic goodies – then it’s off to the common to relax, eat yummy food and have a good old natter.
TiYK Top Tip! Do try their pain au chocolat – it really is to die for and a blast in the microwave for 20 seconds makes it even more heavenly. The Old Post Office Bakery also sell any left over goods at a discount the next day… just 20p for a chocolate croissant and once warmed they taste just as fresh!
